Work Experience

Booth Cashier

Kroger - Houston, TX

January 2007 to October 2022

Upon arriving to work early and punching in on a phone app or at a time clock, if the phone app was not working or was down due to an update to it. I would then clean and wipe down all the counters with disinfectant and then put away all the previous employees returns if any returns were left to be done. After all the opening duties were finished I would then start the business day. My job entailed cashing checks, the company would cash personal checks, if the customer had a current check writing history, government and payroll checks, if the company was enrolled to cash their payroll checks thru Certegy. I also processed merchandise returns for customers, issued money orders, excepted and paid bills for customers using the Checkfree system. Customers could pay their bills by check, debit or cash, no credit cards would be taken for bill pay services. Customers sending western unions or buying money orders could only use cash or debit, no checks or credit cards were accepted for these services. I would also payout Western Unions to customer receiving money, if the payout was large. could only pay out if the funds were available large. I also issued car registrations, windshield stickers. Everyone that worked in the courtesy booth had to be deputized by the State in order to issue car registrations. To save time, when large sums of cash were given to me for payment, I used a Jet scanner to count the cash. As a rule, I always took payment first before finishing up any transaction, this ensured that I did not give back a bill etc. to the customer and they walk away without paying and causing a shortage. At the end of the day, I would count down the till to make sure it balanced, I then added up all the bills, car registrations and western unions, both sent and received, and made sure the amounts matched the closing reports, the reports were ran after the booth closed. I was also an opening bookkeeper for quite a few years, but most of the time I worked as the closing booth cashier or guest and money services cashier. Education
