Preparation and assisting with cardiac telemetry monitoring patients, obtaining vitals, accurate patient history and identifying special needs of the patient, answering questions regarding medications, limitations, heart rhythms, and be able to act on and in an emergency situation
Increase in MET (Metabolic Equivalent Task) levels for patients at a level that increases them to 40% off of baseline assessment or more based upon physical limitations. Recalculation if THR (Target Heart Rate), show other modalities like strength training (upper/lower), therabands, weight training and stretching. Design HEP (Home Exercise Plan) for patient progression based upon what they have available at home. Designed and implemented Aquatic Cardiac Rehab protocols and classes for those with orthopedic limitations. Answer phones, send detailed notes/reports to cardiologists, input referrals, billing, medication reconciliation, schedule and perform intakes, discuss drug use policy and attendance.
Identifies psychosocial, physical and education needs common to adults; report needs to hospital social worker or MD.
Provides for patient's privacy, provides reassurance and support when there is anxiety. Guides patient in meditation practices, relaxation techniques and coping mechanisms.
Inspects, cleans, calibrates, and maintains equipment in accordance with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)/(AACVPR) American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation/
American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines
Verifies physician order and performs the appropriate parameters using ACSM guideline for treatment of patients in small group Cardiac Rehab/Pulmonary setting.
Acts as a resource for the Cardiologist for patient education and trouble shooting of therapeutic issues related to exercise and cardiac risk factor modification
Utilizes computer resources such as the Word, Excel, Scottcare and EPIC, EMR system for obtaining EKG reading and reports respectively. Performs daily monitoring of EKG, exercise progression and provides detailed daily reports, progress reviews, monthly Individual Treatment Plans and Discharge Summaries to patients and providers.
Assists Cardiac Rehabilitation staff with research projects, events, promotions and quality improvement as assigned
Create a fun-filled environment for both pediatric and adult patients with heart/lung issues. Provide a detail oriented perfect ITP for national certification every two year though AACVPR. Attend all staff meetings, daily huddles, etc
Maintenance of National certifications of BLS though American Heart Association and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support). Currently studying for PALS (Pediatric Life Support) certification in May.
