I was the Nurse Practitioner for approximately 400 inmates and I saw patients in the clinic and prescribed for their medical needs within the policies for the Detention Center. I provided Telehealth Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner services to clients who were in Polson, MT and I was in Dillon, MT. I provided medication management mainly. This was accomplished over a secure internet line and equipment that was in Polson and Dillon. There was not the usual lag time and most of the clients liked it and would forget they were on the computer talking to me. Prescriptions were faxed to the pharmacy so there was not a big lag time for medications. There was an assistant in Polson who took the vitals and weight and settled the client in the room and remained there in case there were any electronic issues or other problems. It worked well.
