Objective

Employment as a senior engineer, software engineer, programmer, technician or manager in a computing, technical or related field, commensurate with my experience and abilities.

Skills and Qualifications

Applications Engineer (Hardware/Software and Programming)

I discuss with the customer his process control requirements, then make a plan and design using his input and my expertise, building a prototype solution employing needed sensors, testing the you-know-what out of it, installing the hardware in the industrial setting, programming a software interface, making sure it meets the specs and satisfies the customer.

Often, I gather a team to advise me and offer feedback on my practices and to serve as quality control.

I create customer relationships, often starting with a cold call. I keep the customer informed and satisfied through a close association.

Customer service is key to the success of the project.

I design, code and implement apps in C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS, 6502/68000 assembly language and I supply programming code for various PLCs and ASICs. I use my experience with Fortran and COBOL once in a while also!

I program OS control applications in C++ for Linux, OpenBSD and UNIX and I use scripts to make a flawless turn-key system. Again, customers are happy campers.

I believe that Agile Software team concepts and Scrum meetups with buddy check-ins are a huge help in delivering quality, effective software to the customer. A cohesive, goal driven team makes the process go smoothly.

I make custom networked process control systems to the customer’s specs and I prototype, build, and test them. I often draft PCB designs. I then create the layout, and test and prototype hardware solutions to complete the order. I even mill and drill the PC boards myself.

To tie it all together and to permit the customer to set parameters, levels and watch points, I design a custom website, both front and back end, and implement them using Java web services/resources and also Linux C++ OS programming as needed.

I supervise employees and their technical work in addition to inventory control and warehouse management duties.
