Dissertation Title: Identification of a Virulence Function of Herpes Simplex Virus-Type I Mapping to the Latency Associated Transcript Locus.
Research Training: Utilization of the mouse and rabbit models for the study of Herpes Simplex Virus-Type I gene regulation, pathogenesis and latency. Additionally, I generated, characterized and evaluated recombinant viruses directed at the treatment of cancers of the nervous system in vivo and stem cells.
Work Experience
1/2012-10/2022
Life Science Specialist for Thermo Fisher Scientific
Technical expert in Genomics, Proteomics and Cell Biology
Instrument demonstrations with over 90% sale closures, while delivering world class Life Science training
I designed, and optimized, cell-based assays, which includes 3D Cell Culture, Stem Cells, Transfection, Immunology and Molecular Genetics
3/2010-11/2011
Molecular Biologist (FluoroFinder, Denver, CO)
I implemented Flow Cytometry software designed for extensive panel design
The resulting platform has been implemented by prominent Cell Biology, Immunology and Genomics focused Biotech companies around the world
10/2008-2/2010
Research Scientist
As a microbiologist at GeoSynFuels, I engineered microbes to generate ethanol as a renewable fuel source from a variety of cellulosic and hemicellulosic biomass feedstocks
I employed yeast genetics to generate mutants with phenotypes, which increased ethanol production

Volunteer Work
2022
I am a volunteer with Chapel Hill Public Schools teaching creative writing and fantasy game design to at risk students. We work together to build safe social interactions and promote expression through imagination enhancement. I also mentor teenagers who battle Mental Health challenges.
