EXPERIENCE
YMCA Camp Kitaki, Louisville — Camp Counselor
MAY 2021 - OCTOBER 2022 (current/seasonal)
Through character building programs at Camp Kitaki, I have the opportunity to connect with kids on a deeper level, as well as help show them that they’re much more capable than they first imagined. I’m also in charge of the physical as well as emotional safety of all campers beneath my care. I help give children the knowledge and confidence to live kindly with others, but especially with themselves. I get to be a friend and a mentor to kids, and work among other sta that are my role models as well.

Over the summer I had the pleasure of working for a lovely family, caring for their special needs daughter. I was in charge of feeding, changing, exercising, dressing, and entertaining their child during the hours in which her parents were at work. I had the pleasure of learning how to connect with those who may not always have the ability to connect in the most conventional ways.
