John Bevell Hospitality Consulting, Contract Consultant – Hemet, CA 7/2008 – Current.
Started a hospitality consulting and task force management firm, during the downturn of the economy, to utilize my extensive background in the hospitality industry to support smaller properties and asset management companies looking to fill mid-level manager, general manager, and sales management positions to maintain the hotels day to day operations on slimmer budgets and increase revenues. During this period contracts would be-arranged from 30 days or more of service. During pandemic stage continued to supply contracted aid that arranged from 30-60-90 days, via zoom and teleconference.
The Ashley Inn, General Manager – Cascade, ID 4/2021 – 8/2021 *Contract project
Made major improvements in training and develop the existing team members and hire new employees in all departments to enhance their unique one-of-a-kind boutique style hotel, in preparation of hotel sale. This was a 6-month contract that I was able to complete in 4 months.
•Made an immediate impact on increasing revenue resulting in higher ADR and Occupancy.
•Increased revenues, in April by $23K, in May over by $30K, June by $20K and in July over by
$8K.
•Trained all team members in each department to focus on setting new goals each month in their
departments for the year given by adding my unique experience to all team members to make an
impact throughout the hotel. Which included commitment to excellence in customer service at
front desk.
•Implemented new-sales strategies of qualifying callers, focused on cleanliness and preventive

Portofino Beach Inn, General Manager – Encinitas, CA 7/2016 – 3/2019 *Contract project
Hired to advance in all areas of hotel improvement with a long-term goal of converting the property into Four Diamond Triple A rated property. Hotel mostly catered to transient leisure guest, with the hotel being 25 miles from San Diego. Contract ended for this project when ownership was unable to obtain approval from city council for the project.
•Analyze financials to drive revenues, cash flow, profitability, and maximum return on investment. Use distribution channels and technology platforms to increase revenue and maximize market share.
•Increased revenues by 45%, by adding untapped market segments to the hotels business from the international market.
•Enhanced overall guest satisfaction and property scores from 50% to 83% in a brief period.
•Prepared annual capital cost, cash flow and sales and marketing plans to accurately forecast budgets and achieve required operating results.

Trained staff in Standard Operating Procedures and improve customer service ratings and overall performance. Resulted in higher guest satisfaction of over 85%.
• Contracted/General Manager, Peery Hotel – Salt Lake City, UT. 73 rooms/suites
Managed luxury boutique hotel while in receivership. Focusing on renovation, setting up policies and procedures. Responsible for overall Operations, sales and marketing, housekeeping, and maintenance. Trained staff on improving customer service skills, sales and marketing, revenue management, and overall operations. Worked on improving relationships with local business and increase higher volume of convention groups business.

Hired to set up new policies and procedures that I created. Focusing on operations, sales and marketing, housekeeping & cleanliness programs and training maintenance on room and building inspection/repairs. Before contract curtailed was able to make major improvements in all areas in helping to pass QA inspection.
• Contracted/Hotel Manager, Marriott Renaissance Casa De Palmas – McAllen, TX. 141 rooms Hired to make major improvements in all areas in the day-to-day operations of all departments. Improved overall operational procedures and customer service. Prior to my involvement hotels QA score was below brand standards. I focused in all areas for the hotel in receiving a QA score of 97%.
• Contracted/General Manager, Springhill Suites by Marriott – Bossier City, LA. 150 suites Hired to assemble a new Team of Leaders with a “commitment to excellence” improving the performance in every department to accommodate the local Harrah’s Casino and Louisiana Downs Racetrack clients. Was able to increase a hotel occupancy to 82% - 3 months consistently.
• Contracted/General Manager, Staybridge & Holiday Inn Express – Glendale, AZ. 212 Suites Hired to manage two properties in distress, to lead turnaround. Raised both hotels to #1 in the company’s portfolio of hotels by increasing revenues and overall guest satisfaction scores above 90%.
