I am an experienced and dedicated journalist seeking full-time employment that allows me to utilize the skills I have and grow new ones.
I have worked at Long Beach Local News for the past three years. For all three of those years I have written and copy-edited articles. My strength lies in writing and I always jump at the chance to write more. I have also consistently provided behind-the-scenes technical support.
I have been in front of the camera many times for both a daily news segment and my live segment called 'Cuddly Critters with Casey.' A volunteer from the local animal shelter brings a dog into the studio and on camera, we discuss various animal safety concerns and the dog that is brought into the studio. The goal of this is to help the dog find a 'forever home' and to also help people keep their pets safe.
I was an intern before gaining employment and I received hands-on experience in the production of both live and pre-recorded broadcast news segments and performed various assistance responsibilities for the news anchor. While I was obtaining my associate's degree in Liberal Arts and Humanities, I was editor-in-chief of my community college's bi-weekly newspaper. I obtained my Bachelor's degree of Arts in Journalism from the California State University of Long Beach in 2022. I am experienced with WordPress, Microsoft Office, G-suite, and various social media websites. Not only am I knowledgeable of AP Style, but I also have taught it to others.
I thrive in research-related roles, whether it’s looking into information for my articles, for a live news segment, or assisting other coworkers. Punctuality is very important to me, I never miss a deadline. I am a perfectionist that appreciates feedback. I like knowing how I am doing concerning my job and how I can make improvements. Journalism is always evolving and as a journalist, I should be as well.
I believe that my experience and qualities will make me a great fit for your role. Best,
Casey N. Wilson
