The past year I have worked as a professional Video/Audio Interpreter to help facilitate communication between Farsi speaking population in the U.S., and U.K and hospital staff, courts, ER, Insurance etc..

I have very good command of English Writing, grammar and vocabulary. I am also very good when it comes to involving in a conversation; this quality has served me well in having good relationships with any client.

My personal and professional experiences have been diverse, leading me from a longtime career in research and publishing in Tehran to my current role as an editorial consultant and interpreter living in the Washington, DC metropolitan area since 2008. While my profile, attests to my credentials and previous positions, I wish to emphasize the rare combination of attributes and skills I possess.

In working independently as the researcher, editor and publisher of Iran Almanac for more than a decade in Tehran, I acquired the ability to decipher complex political and socio-economic trends in the country and the wider Middle East, conveying large volumes of information in a user-friendly manner. This experience has been invaluable, teaching me attentiveness to detail, resourcefulness in the face of a difficult environment and sensitivity to the customers' needs—skills that are serving me well as a consultant.

Since my arrival in the United States 11 years ago, I have continued to work in Iranian and Middle Eastern studies as a Researcher and an editor. However, I have also delved into issues related to refugee resettlement and immigration. As Virginia's delegate to the Washington, DC-based Refugee Congress (sponsored by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, I have witnessed the difficulties other newcomers confront—cultural differences, linguistic barriers as well as unfamiliarity with the American political system.

My linguistic skills as a fluent speaker of English and Farsi/Persian has enabled me to offer translation and simultaneous interpretation services to Refugees and applicants for political asylum. In this role, I have strengthened other core competencies—listening strategically, consuming information efficiently and communicating effectively even in stressful situations.
