A Registered Nurse whose mission is to provide compassionate care to all categories of clients irrespective of their cultures thereby ensuring that there is equity and fairness in nursing care provision in all the medical-surgical units I will be working in.

NURSING GOALS

Providing timely delivered and effective nursing care to cater for the diverse needs of the diverse patients in the medical –surgical units. EXPERIENCE.

Assisting the surgical team with sterilization of the surgical equipment and supplying them with the surgical equipment.

Providing IV medication therapy management for the respiratory patients who had undergone surgery.

Providing nursing care to the surgical patients through wound dressing and educating them on the hygiene practices they should adopt to control infections in the med-surg floors.

Observing as well as monitoring the operating rooms before and during the surgical procedures.

Reflection

The creation of the portfolio has been an exciting experience through which I have learnt a lot. Throughout the process, I have been able to evaluate myself and my readiness in terms of the experiences and skills gained (throughout the course at Rasmussen College) with regard to their applicability in the job market. The process of the creation of the portfolio has enabled me reflect on my nursing mission statement as well my nursing goals and their relevance in the medical surgical units where I target to provide my services. Through such reflection, I am currently more prepared to ensure that such nursing goals are achieved in the near future of my nursing care provision in the medical –surgical units where I will be working in. I have understood on the need to engage in a culture of lifelong learning as an RN which will ensure that I able to build on more experiences and skills evidenced through certifications which will make me more competent in the job market.

Further, I have evaluated my ability to apply the IT skills gained in customizing my resume which will be necessary in the process of applying for new jobs in different organization. Through such ability to utilize the Rasmussen electronic portfolio, I have understood the advantage of using the website format portfolio instead of using document format which allows fast and easy customizing of the resumes based on the different employers’ requirements. Thus, I will regularly be using such website format anytime I wish to apply for the new positions that will be advertised in the different organizations.
