Jarrett Garcia

Teacher at Mesa Public Schools

"I had Karen as a student in my Economics and US Government classes. She was one of my best students. Karen would go the extra mile when working on assignments - she would type out and print her notes and reports when most of her peers would handwrite their work. She was meticulous with her projects and spent hours by herself or with a partner working on the details (I still have one of her projects about the oil industry hanging on my wall as an example to other students).

She always sat in the front of the classroom (by choice) and was willing to share her opinions and thoughts on controversial topics; but she was respectful about it. Karen was also willing to accept critique or criticism to improve an assignment or to be a better learner.

She is kind and considerate, intelligent and ambitious, and strives to improve and grow."

Mark Shaffer

Math Teacher at Mesa Public Schools

"Karen is a very personable young lady who demonstrated initiative and perseverance as a student. She is affable, has excellent communications skills, and exudes a positive personality. She also follows through on her commitments and is thorough in her approach to her school work. Karen finished her geometry class online and earned a well-deserved credit."

Julia Wood

Teacher at Mesa Public Schools

"Karen is dependable, conscientious, intelligent, articulate and compassionate. She was a leader in my classroom mentoring other students. She came in everyday during lunch to talk or work on her academics. I would recommend Karen for any work or academic endeavor."
