I had worked here before as a nursing assistant and returned as a phlebotomist. Duties involved drawing blood from approximately 50 residents per day and inserting IVs, recording the diagnosis codes in the computer along with the residents’ personal information so the blood and paper work could be carried to Athens Limestone Hospital for analysis. While employed here I received my LPN License and became a charge nurse. My duties as a charge nurse were monitoring the nursing assistants, checking on the assigned residents at least every 2 hours, performing Cather insertions, G-tube feedings, quantity and quality of the glucometer so to insure the diabetic residents had their blood sugars checked and given the correct amount and type of insulin at the right time. Duties also included monitoring residents that were on oxygen concentrators, charting, filing, and calling doctors and/or family members and managing the medications that were given out at the beginning and end of each shift.

Last, I was granted the Charge Nurse position and had to learn ever wing because I may be needed to work on any wing at any time.
Due to personal health problems I became unable to work this type of heavy work load so regrettably I had to resign with notification in 2006.
