Dear Sir/Madam,
I have thirteen (**) years extensive experience in classification societies as Senior Ship Surveyor and Lead Auditor. I am experienced in Machinery, Electrical System and Navigation System survey onboard the vessels. And my strength is the survey of structural as I am a Naval Architect by background, plus my surveyor training being a hull specialist. I am also experienced in doing ISM, ISPS, & MLC audits onboard vessels: insuring certifications of the crew and the vessel are correct and company management systems are properly implemented, sometimes involved in doing company management system audits at the clients headquarters. In 2017 I have been part of the DNV-GL new-building team in Subic Hanjin Shipyard, we have delivered two (2) VLCC's to the Greek Owner and four (4) 18,000TEU's Container Vessels to MSC. And in 2007 I was the project in-charge of DNV Singapore Offshore Conversion Project at Keppel Subic Shipyard Philippines, the FPSO Lewek of EMAS Offshore Limited.
Once considered "The Unsung Hero" in an Article published Inside DNV – “Turning Risk into Rewards” dated: 2009 November 01; the quoted words of my line manager “Dogged determination, hard work by the attending surveyors and a no comprise attitude, which also mean robust discussion between both parties, was the key to success.” “All this hard work led to a conclusion that is a credit to DNV unsung heroes, the surveyors working day in day out often in difficult condition and under intense time pressure to complete the job.” Unquote.
We managed to turn risk into rewards by successfully completed the ambitious class entry of a 13-year-old chemical carrier that DNV normally declined.
In addition to the above mentioned experience, I also have seven(7) years solid experience in the Shipyard in Dubai UAE, and in the Philippines. I have handled major repairs of all ship types (Passenger, Tankers, Bulkers, to Fishing Boats). I was also involved in Offshore Vessels major modification and conversions projects in Dubai and in the Philippines.
Received a Commendation Letter from the United States Navy for being the project in-charge of the first successful extensive modification and major conversion (in Dubai Drydock) of the first two United States vessels outside of America, the USS Firebolt and the USS Chinook.
If given a chance to join onboard the class survey team, I am confident to deliver an exceptionally good result and possibly can bring in good clients whom I have close working relationship when I was still with DNV-GL Class.
Sincerely yours,
Allain V. Caritan
