Purpose
The purpose of my job was to acquire practical exposure in the field of Defence Diplomacy ETD by assisting with the coordination of Bilateral Military to Military Training Cooperation between the RSA and the Foreign Countries with which the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The focus of the job was on the establishment and analysis of Education, Training and Development (ETD) Portfolios.
Duties
Daily administrative tasks such as taking of minutes during official meetings, photocopying and scanning of documents, E-filling and electronic distribution of documents to staff members within the section
Acting secretary to Director of Education Training and Development System Integrity (D ETD SI) in the absence of the appointed secretary
Minutes taking, drafting, typing and signed in less than 48 hours as required
Standardisation of ETD Portfolios according to the prescribed layout
Conducting studies of foreign military training and education system per country
Adding the findings of the studies conducted to allocated ETD Portfolios
Finding, reading and analysing Foreign Learning Opportunities (FLO) course reports and updating ETD Portfolios
Maintain portfolios by updating statistics of FLO’s completed
Responsible for 30 ETD Country Portfolios
Compiled numerous databases and updated them on a daily basis wrt Foreign Military Training.
Liaise with D ETD SI officials on matters of communal interests as directed by the Director or his representative
I assisted Senior Personnel Practitioner with the new Internship applications, where I not only were the secretary during the interviews but also captured the applications for the Internship programme of 2018/2019.
