Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained. Preheating workpieces prior to welding or bending by using torches or heating. Can determine required equipment and welding methods by applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. Analyze engineered drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders. Knowledgeable in material safety data sheets for planning layouts, assembly, and welding operations. Can mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks and chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers or power chippers. Experience with: adjustable wrenches, air drills, air scalers, angle finders, arc welders, mig welders and voltage measurement instruments, band saws, buffers, calipers, come along, current converters, cutoff saws. Carpenter and Construction- Performs duties on construction projects by being able to transfer from one task to another where demands require a worker with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision. Can measure distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch a tight line. Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications. Levels earth to fine grade specifications using pick and shovel, mixes concrete using a portable mixer and smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete, using float, trowel, or screed. Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections. Erects scaffolding,shoring and braces. Mops, brushes or spreads paints or compounds over surfaces for protection. vinyl, paint, or stucco through a hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces. Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices. Grinds, sands, or polishes surfaces such as concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood flooring using abrasive tools or machines. Performs variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools such as demolishing buildings, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, mounting pipe hangers, and cutting and attaching insulating materials. Oil rigs- worked on the oil rigs as a derrick hand and learned all the tasks and hard work of the rig and its day to day operations.
