June 2012 to Present: Sharp Packaging Systems by Pregis. – Sussex, Wi.

Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities: Project lead on Designing the company’s latest Line of Bagging Machines. Past designs include three US Patents for different innovations for the company’s Continuous bagging systems.

I designed a Rotational Exit Conveyor that allowed our customers packages to be delivered label up so as to automate the delivery for shipping.

I re-designed the Seal Flattening system on our main Bagger. The new system allows for bag change set-up to be done by keying in the size of the bag instead of having to make the standard mechanical changes that could take upwards of 30 minutes.

Quoting new parts and building the prototypes.

Working with vendors to keep cost down.

Patent: Provisional Patent for Bag Open Verification system and method for operating a bagging machine. December 15 2018

Patent: Designing a low-Resolution Encoder on a printer ribbon spindal. December 14 2019.

Patent: Design and implementation of a inherently safe bag clamping system. December 8th 2020.

June 2010 to 2012: Spee Dee Packaging. – Sturtevant, WI.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities of designing Volumetric Filling Machines for dry products.

Designed and built an Automated Auger filler machines that dispensed

Baby formula into plastic bottles, then vibrated the bottles to settle to the product prior the weighing and capping the containers. I took a job closer to home.

June 2008 to 2010: Wisconsin Machine Tool Corp. – Brookfield WI.

Project Engineer and Machine Builder

Responsibilities of new machine design, from start to finish.

Taking customers specifications and developing Multiple Station Dial Machines. Designing the fixtures to hold the part. The Fixtures were required to hold locational tolerances to +/- .0005. I then installed the

8 Station Indexing and Drill heads at the customer plant. Assembling the Multiple Spindle Drill Heads and aligning them to the fixtures, and using calibers, dial indicators and electronic measuring devices. Then “dialing in” the bushing plates, grinding fit spacers when required. I can operate surface grinders, lathes, small manual mills and welders. I’ve used sheet metal sheers and brakes up to 16-gauge steel. I was Laid-off .

April 2005 to June 2008: Conflex Packaging Inc. – Germantown, WI.

Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities of new machine design. I designed a Low Cost packaging machine by replacing weldments with sheet metal frames that bolted together. This reduced cost, lead times and assembly labor. I also handled the project management of all work flow thru

the engineering dept. Generating weekly Gantt charts so

Management could follow project progress. Working

with AutoCad 2008 Mechanical Desktop, Inventor 2008

and Microsoft Project.

March 2003 to April 2005: Inline Cutting LLC – Hartland, WI

Total product and project responsibilities, from the brain storming of the products function to the installation and field service of the finished product. Product was Paper Converting Equipment. This included design, purchase, expediting, receiving, assembly, runoff, and installation in customers plant, with follow-up service work. Worked on Autocad 2004 Mechanical Desktop and some Autodesk Inventor 6.
