ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: at the above listed companies
• Collect, analyze, and interpret various power plant water and steam samples and take corrective action as needed. Ensure conformance to accepted qualitative and quantitative laboratory procedures as well as power plant chemistry guidelines.
• Independently make necessary adjustments to power plant water and chemical systems based on analyses performed and on-line instrumentation.
• Collect analyze and interpret various environmental samples in compliance with National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC).
• Preparation of data reports, adherence to and administration of a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program, and data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) computers.
• Maintain records and logs in accordance with NELAC standards and prepare detailed records and reports in a timely manner.
• Calibrate, adjust, maintain and repair as necessary all laboratory instrumentation and in-line continuous analyzers including pH, conductivity, spectrophotometers, sodium, silica, dissolved oxygen, phosphate, and others.
• Perform chemical analyses using gravimetric, spectrophotometric, turbidimetric, and titrimetric methods in conformance to Standard Methods.
• Developed and evaluated new analytical methods. Prepared laboratory reagents, as needed, in conformance to Standard Methods and NELAC, as well as general laboratory procedures.
• Operated controls, and troubleshoot water treatment systems such as demineralizers, reverse osmosis, and electro-deionization equipment.
• Complied with information provided on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all products. Handled and stored items properly.
• Observed and adhered to proper tag out and lockout of plant equipment and systems in accordance with clearance procedures, policies, and practices.
• Worked with other power plant personnel to start up, troubleshoot, or shut down equipment for corrective or preventive maintenance.
