I am a Consultant general Surgeon at king Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre Hepatobiliary unit at Jeddah,Saudi Arabia in July 2018. I completed my higher surgical training at Sudan Medical Specialization Board (SMSB) and awarded Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in General Surgery (CCT) on the 2nd of July 2013. I have trained in some of the biggest surgical units in Sudan including Khartoum and IBN Sinna Hospitals. My training culminated in being selected for a prestigious fellowship of Minimal access surgery at University of Sharjah where I have acquired new innovations and highly specialized skills. I maintain a keen interest in teaching & training .I am also an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Gezira medical school. Throughout my career I have been involved in research & I have published and presented my work nationally & internationally & I currently review for European Journal of Medical Case Reports. After my final year of training I was awarded the MacGowan medal of Surgery for the best young surgeon in Sudan .I managed to join king Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and this was a great opportunity to experience the delivery of high-quality hepatobiliary care at a different healthcare system. It also helped me establish international links and collaborations with a well-recognised & innovative hepatobiliary unit. I held different leadership roles like Deputy Director of General Surgery Residency Training Program since 2019 till now . During my role as chief resident at WadMedani hospital I was awarded with an excellence award in leadership and management.

Iam a valued fellow at the American College Of Surgeons (FACS) since 2020.

Present post

I am currently Assistant Consultant Hepatobiliary & General surgeon at The king Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Hepatobiliary unit, Saudi Arabia, appointed in July 2018. I am also assistant Professor of Surgery, University Of Gezira –since 2013.

King Faisal Hospital is a tertiary referral hospital, it offers primary and highly specialized inpatient and outpatient medical care and participates in many clinical and research studies. It is consistently recognized as one of the nation's top hospital specializing in Oncology, Organ Transplantation, Cardiovascular Diseases, Neurosciences and Genetic Diseases .A large portion of the patient population are referrals from other hospitals from across Saudi Arabia as a whole and the surrounding regions. The hospital handles around 10,000 thousand outpatient visits each year and houses over 1,600 beds and has 28 health outreach centers. It has a staff of over 1,000 doctors with over 13,500 total employees of 67 different nationalities.

Our unit has persistently performed the highest volume of hepatobiliary l cancer resections in SaudiArabia for the last 5 years & offers a wide range of specialist skills including Robotic, HIPEC and Liver Transplantation .We usually do two Whipples procedure a week and one liver resection .Also our clinic had arrange of 25-30 patients a week referred from different all over the country .In addition we have a weekly hepatocellular meeting with the oncologist and in the presence of radiologist and histopathologist to decide about cases .Moreover we discuss the pancreatic cases in the gastrointestinal tumor board which is regular meeting .

Currently i am responsible of education process of residents of general surgery,designing the academic sessions and clinical materials .Also I do participate in the Saudi Council For Health Speciality exams.

Our unit has persistently performed the highest volume of hepatobiliary cancer resections in Saudi Arabia for the last 5 years & offers a wide range of specialist skills including Robotic, HIPEC and Liver Transplantation .We usually do two whipples a week and one liver resection. Also our clinic had arrange of 25-30 patients aweek referred from different all over the country. As a Deputy Director of Residency Training Program I am responsible of the educational and training sessions of the residents as well as interviews of the new residents and exams .

(2)JULY 2013 – JUNE 2018:

In this period I was working as an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery - Faculty of Medicine - University Of Gezira. Through this time I was the coordinator of two courses in the faculty, responsible about the organization of the lectures, Dissection room Sessions, laboratory sessions, clinical rounds and the final exam. Also I conduct daily clinical rounds with the students in the Hospital for the Clerkship of Surgery concerning about history taking from the patients, conducting clinical examination, discussing the appropriate investigations and options of management. I shared seminar discussion in the Faculty with other colleagues. Also I joined many workshops in the faculty during this period in the Education Development and Research Centre (EDC).

In this period also was working as a specialist of General Surgery in a unit of General and Laparoscopic Surgery in Wad Medani Teaching Hospital, covering both inpatient and outpatient (E&A) departments, referred clinics and training the junior staff including the registrars, residents and house-officers. Also covering a weekly elective operative list ranging between 20-30 operations/day including major and minor procedures with Laparoscopic Surgery.

Also covering as a specialist of General Surgery in Wad Medani Police Hospital and Gezira Traumatology Center in Wad Medan City as an additional private work with the same responsibilities as above.

(3)15/9/ 2008-13/3/ 2012:

This is the registrarship rotation (Residency program) period of general Surgery that started after success in the Part One (SMSB) General Surgery (Clinical MD Sudan). The registrarship includes daily rounds where the registrar is the person in charge of the wards and the junior house-officers and medical-officers, then there are two-weekly major rounds which is done with the consultant and specialists. The duty of the registrar also includes outpatient clinics, referred clinics, preparing cases for the clinical meetings in the Sudan Medical Specialization Board, and then there is the ER duty that comes once/twice per week, and also answering the calls from other registrars of other Departments. Also the registrar is the main operating person in the emergency and

elective surgical operations.

I also aim to develop my academic and training interests by being involved in the affiliated university to teach and train future doctors and surgeons in addition to publishing a series of scientific papers .

Hobbies and Interests

I am settled with my wife and 4 children in Jeddah. Outside work we enjoy the Jeddah countryside & outdoor activities. I play musical keyboard & keep myself fit by playing football.
