American Express SVP (Syntel Inc Project) - Salt Lake City, UT

Planned the migration of a large database (1000+ entities, 2700 tables) from the DB/400-RPG-CoolGen platform to DB/2-COBOL platform.

Ensured the scalability of the application to grow from proof-of-concept to a large and stable application

Was responsible for creating a data model and developing DDLs for building the target database.

Proposed, designed, developed and implemented a tool for extracting the data model from CoolGen, and automatically generate a set of DDL scripts that would implement all the Amex standards and create a DB/2 database using ErWin.

Reduced the time-line to create the target database from six months to six weeks, while ensuring full conformance with Amex database standards through use of the migration tool.

Hyatt Hotels Corp (Patni Computer Systems Project) - Chicago, IL

Hyatt Global Corporation were in the process of implementing Oracle EBS for integrating financial system for the headquarters and 120 properties.

Supervised the team that customized and implemented Oracle EBS to integrate the corporate- and properties' accounting systems

Acted as a single point of contact with Oracle Hosting services.

Proposed and designed an automated data exchange process based on Oracle Heterogeneous Services to extract data from databases (SyBase, MS SQL Server, etc.) in distributed locations. This resulted in eliminating manual data exchange monitoring.

SOLUTION DESIGNER 01/2004 to 09/2004

Aetna (Syntel Inc Project) - Philadelphia, PA

Provided technical leadership for the dev team for converting an Excel-based risk assessment system to a Web-based application (Parts of this project were entrusted to different software services vendors.)

Proposed a tool-based solution to extract the business logic embedded in the existing Excel workbooks, and emitting a semi-optimized Java code which developers could fine-tune, test and implement.

Developed the proposed tool in Visual Basic

Supported a development team of 10 to work with the tool output.

Delivered the application withing 9 weeks (before the other vendor teams could finish their functional description documentation), and was accepted by the Aetna SMEs as exactly mirroring the behavior of their risk-assessment model.

Handed the tool over to Aetna to facilitate future enhancements of the application functionality

DATA ARCHITECT + DATABASE DESIGNER 03/2003 to 12/2003

OE3 (Syntel Inc Project) - Alameda, CA

Interfaced with the SMEs and business users to define data structure and relationships

Designed and implemented a semi-automated process for creating staffing plans and effort estimation.

After 1998, created the technical- and staffing parts of the response to a number RFPs and RFQs, and presented the responses to prospective customers in face-to-face presentations.

Designed the algorithm for rating the fit of a candidate skills to a position requirement. The algorithm forms the core of eBay.com, a Web-based service to match candidates to contract positions. (A software patent was filed with my name as the inventor for this algorithm.)

The Royal Bank Of Scotland (Patni Computer Systems Project) - London, United Kingdom

Managed the support of the International Banking System at the Royal Bank of Scotland (mainframe-based system with the user-interface, a custom database and workflow management system written in IBM assembler, and the batch processing system written in IBM PL/I.

Managed a team of 4 developers on-site and12 developers offshore.

Conducted defect- and enhancement analysis, effort estimation, work allocation, monitoring and reporting.

I was also responsible for emergency support after business hours.
