VERBALIZE - American Sign Language for deaf, mute, and vision-impaired Hackathon April 2022

• Developed a vision-based system to enable deaf, mute, and blind to communicate with other people. Built and trained a CNN- based model to detect sign language from hand gestures. This mainly helps people who can’t talk with other people and for normal people who cannot understand their language. • Developed a real-time system using cameras to guide visually challenged people to navigate on their own with confidence and give them accurate distance information from people nearby by using text-to-speech alert systems which generate voice response/feedback using python and OpenCV. Used the concept of triangle similarity to estimate the distance from the person. Trained MobileNet SSD face detector on WIDER FACE Dataset. Sentiment Analysis of Covid-19 Tweets May 2021

• Used Cassandra, Spark, PySpark, Datastrax integration to extract live twitter data using Twitter API. Used data wrangling and manipulated by cleaning & pre-processing unstructured tweets (removed special characters, punctuations, hashtags) Tokenized the sentences, removed stop words, and labelled positive, negative and neutral tweets with the help of NLTK and pattern libraries and extracted Positive and Negative Sentiments based on sentiment scores.

• Also, after labelling the above data, trained a machine learning model to classify positive and negative sentiments using TensorFlow and Keras with an accuracy of greater than 80% and visualized the data in Tableau. Text Summarization May 2021

• Built a GUI and backend with Python, NLTK and Tkinter to summarize a text/paragraph based on user input or a website or a file. Performed stemming, word and sentence tokenization, thresholding based on sentence frequency to generate the summary.

• The system was designed to summarize the text, auto-detect the language of the text and then translate it into another language
