Alcon Laboratories, Inc. – (Senior Systems Analyst) 1983 - 2006 Served as S/390-z/Os, iSeries program product resource for Operating Systems and associated support products including but not limited to: ISPF, TSO, JCL, SMP/E, SAS, RMDS, scheduling packages, tape management packages, report viewing packages, and software conversions. Acted as comprehensive 24X7 on-call resource, Windows program product installation and support, and held JDE OneWorld CMA package promotion and build responsibilities.

• Shouldered 75% of production requests within one week of SQL Server admin training. • Responsible for new group responsibilities, including Windows disk space alert procedures for over 600 servers.

• Compounded group activities with continued past re-org transitions responsibilities from iSeries, JDE OneWorld, and S/390.

• Networked with experienced engineering DBAs, searching for solutions using documented SQL books, Internet search engines, and company-specific standard operating procedures.

• Provided coverage and support until additional SQL resource was added in late June and began building a successful team.

• Proposed system to assure 24X7 support was accomplished by using flexible rotation of on-call responsibilities over multiple operating systems and footprints.

Managed Windows program product support installation, customization, and support as company integrated tool to interface with MKS implementer installed on iSeries. Worked closely with applications programmers to develop highly customized application that allowed company to move worldwide iSeries manufacturing development coding and production environment rollout from European data center to Fort Worth data center.

Managed JDE OneWorld change management analyst utilizing JD Edwards client/server architecture. Supported application programmers in building one-of-a-kind order entry system.

Provided ongoing TIBCO support assuring that existing TIBCO integrations were managed in a production manner.

Discovered three anomalies in installation of MKSIM, including ability to only use flat file password authentication instead of NT/AD authentication, extremely slow response time, and application administrators losing access to application and its folders.

• Requested security group convert any users to local active directory domain. Worked closely with vendor and product specialist from MKS to build hot fix to allow users to dial in domains in a specific manner.

• Discovered vendor fix was only tested in small domain environment. Turned cache off and eliminated problem.

• Found that unbeknown to group, company server group had applied specific server permissions at direction of parent company that dictated folder permission rights that were updated every night. Reinstalled product in its own folders and security problems ceased.

Responsible for TIBCO integration technical support and served as member of a two-man support team who installed and managed TIBCO-rendezvous/hawk/product line environment rolled out to roughly 100 servers. Conducted constant hands-on management as product was not designed for large manufacturing environments. Re-evaluated JDE OneWorld support role. Successfully completed Y2K S/390 product upgrades, testing, and implementation.

Managed S/390 and JDE OneWorld disaster recovery effort. Was responsible for iSeries OS/400 installation and program product, including business recovery media services and performance management. Supported FDA compliant environment. Oversaw S/390 product support, encompassing tape management, disk management, report viewing and distribution, job scheduling, performance and capacity planning, and systems related tools.

• Grew with Alcon as they expanded during this period. Began on the computer room floor, then served as SR. DISK/DASD Analyst and ultimately Senior Systems Programmer.
