Dr. Melissa Zielinski, UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute, Trauma-Related Pathology And Recovery
As a visiting research assistant, I supported Dr. Melissa Zielinski’s studies in regard to mental health and substance abuse conducted at the Pulaski County Jail located in Little Rock, AR. During the assignment, I was tasked with interviewing participants in the jail to assess, using standardized surveys, prior and current mental health status and history of substance abuse. In addition, I facilitated discussion with the participants on how to improve programs for substance abuse in jails.

I assisted Principal Investigator Dr. Rosalia Simmen in investigating cell proliferation and cell death in endometriosis by assisting with histological analysis, reviewing literature, performing statistical analysis of data, maintaining laboratory environment and equipment, and assisting with other collaborative projects as needed.
