General Clinical Skills

Obstetrics

During my training I have been fortunate to work in a number of University and District hospitals and consequently have obtained exposure to an excellent standard of Obstetric training. This has been consolidated by completing the Labour Ward. I am a skilled obstetrician and thoroughly enjoy the dynamics of labour ward. I am competent and confident in managing high risk obstetric cases including high risk labour, rotational deliveries, classical caesarean sections, placental praevias, complications at extremes of prematurity, B-Lynch sutures and cervical sutures.

I have written three Obstetric guidelines and completed two Obstetric root cause analysis. I have extensive experience of managing different problems that present to the obstetric day unit. I have experience of both general and more specialised ante-natal clinics including endocrine, epilepsy, young people and those with drug problems. This experience has ensured that I am able to deliver an excellent standard of care in the antenatal clinics in my current role.I find labour ward an extremely rewarding area to teach and train trainees and midwives where required, or facilitating independent practice if appropriate.

1992-1996: I had joined MBBS in LADY HARDINGE MEDICAL COLLEGE in 1992 through DPMT.I had been an outstanding student thru out my tenure.I had done my Gynaecology postings under Dr MAYA SOOD who was the HOD in my tenure.

1996-1997: I had done my internship in LADY HARDINGE MEDICAL COLLEGE and my Gynaecology postings were under Dr. MAYA SOOD where special focus was given to the teaching of Gynaecology postings.I had done about 50-60 normal deliveries independently in internship.

1998-2000:I had joined SAFDARJUNG HOSPITAL as DGO under Dr.SALHAN where I enhanced my obstetrics & Gynaecology.During my years of postgraduation I attended 5-6CMEs,presented many lectures in post-graduate classes .I did many normal deliveries,caesarean sections;few abdominal&vaginal hysterectomies during post graduation.I was exposed to all kinds of major Gynaecological surgeries I have done arroud 50 laproscopic sterilizations independently.

2001-2003:I worked in JIVODAYA HOSPITAL as senior resident where I handled all cases independently As a senior resident I managed all normal &abnormal labour viz difficult cases of twin twin transfusion syndrome,RH-ve complicatied pregnancies,BOH, IVF pregnancies,severe PIH,diabetic pregnancies,complicated pregnancy with autoimmune disorders&many more.In Gynaecology I managed all cases of menstrual disorders,ovarian cysts,hormonal disorders,,laproscopicsurgeries,hysteroscopy,pregnancy,molar pregnancy,congenital abnormalities of urogenital system.I exposed to all cases of assisted reproduction including IUI,IVF,ICSI,donor egg,sperm&embryo pregnancy.I am well aware all medicolegal aspects of these cases.

2003-2010:I Started my private practice was courtesy consultant in many hospitals of DELHI viz BHAGWAN MAHAVIR HOSPITAL,SAROJ HOSPITAL,BHAGWATI

HOSPITAL,VARDHMAN JAIN HOSPITAL.I shifted to GURGAON in 2008 & started my private practice with many hospitals viz KOMAN SAVITRI HOSPITAL,EKTA HOSPITAL etc.I was also associated with ARTEMIS HOSPITAL GURGAON.

2011(JULY)-2012(JAN) I was attached with FORTIS HOSPITAL SHALIMAR BAGH as S/R to update my Knowledge of electronic patient record as well as newer upgradation in diagnostic methods viz use of endoscopes in gynae.I attended all clinical meets &lectures during this period.I am also updated with basic BCLS&ACLS training.

2012 I was working as associate consultant in MAX HOSPITAL SHALIMAR BAGH.In this hospital I enhanced my soft skills of public relations,clinical updates,COMPUTERISED PATIENT RECORD SYSTEM(CPRS).Everyday is a new day for me give my best efforts to learn the changing trends in medical practice.I never hesitate to learn from my juniors;believe inconstant zeal to learn &TEAM WORK rather than individual upliftment.

2012-2013 march I worked as a private consultant gynaecologist in Delhi NCR.

2014-2015 worked in obstetrics and gnaecology in NMC hospital Dubai with DHA licence

2016 worked in obstetrics and gynaecology in MEDCARE women and childrens hospital Dubai with DHA licence

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

I fully support the need for research and have initiated, undertaken, completed and published research projects throughout my career.

As a part of my dissertation for the DGO in Quality and Safety in Healthcare at Safdarjang hospital Delhi,

I carried out a research project entitled

1)Breech vaginal delivery -Does it improve the morbidity or mortality associated with breech delivery.

2) Hysterctomy for benign conditions--Quality and Safety?” This study evaluated the implementation of the enhanced recovery programme for elective gynaecolgy cases, the main elements of which were: preoperative planning, preparation,optimization of Hemoglobin levels, maximizing patient knowledge and involvement in the recovery

process, early mobilization, and early catheter removal. The results from the study showed that the

median length of stay fell from 3.5 to 4 days (p= 0.010), the duration of post-operative catheterisation

decreased from day 1 to day 0 (p=0.006) and the duration of immobility decreased from day 1 to day 0

(p=0.006) after introduction of ERP. The readmission rate was unchanged (p=0.128). This study

demonstrates that the introduction of ERP decreases the length of stay without compromising safety after elective hysterectomy.

SERVICE DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE

Having undertaken the CPHQ in Quality and Safety in Healthcare and I am proud to be master black belt in Six sigma of quality.

I have a sound knowledge and experience of proven methods to create positive sustainable changes like PDSA cycle, stakeholders meeting, process mapping, demand and capacity management, etc. Being able to understand and use these tools has enabled me to systematically progress through the Quality and Service improvement

projects.

I am honored to be prominent front line clinician in managing covid-19 affected pregnant women and actively took part in the ongoing care and delivered them safely.We could discharge both mother and baby safely.

I have been awarded certificate of thanks and appreciation from ruler of Dubai for my selfless contribution in acute time of crisis of corona.

I am involved in the organisation of the monthly neonatal morbidity MDT in private hospital of Dubai . The aim of the

MDT meeting was to increase patient safety,retrospective review of factors increasing neonatal morbidity and mortality.

Recently I have started doing some basic baking had some fallen sponges, crumbling pastries.
