Welder – Fitter

Lay out, cut, fit, and weld fabricated components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, tracks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, catwalk, handrails, guardrails, pump, platforms, stairs, ladders, impact structures, conveyors, conveyor head sections, conveyor tail sections, conveyor legs, bins, chutes, screen decks, finger gates, and towers.

Lay out, cut fit, and weld pipe, pipe flanges, pipe reducers, pipe spliters, and pipe valves.

Repair heavy equipment by gouging out stress cracks and fatigue cracks using air carbon arc, cutting torch, and welding.

Repair damaged large structures and equipment by straightening, reworking metal, then welding back into place.

Weld on mild steel, black iron, cast iron, galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, magnese, and magnetic and non-magnetic abrasion resistant steel.

Select equipment and plan layout, assembly and welding, applying knowledge of physical properties of metal machining and welding techniques.

Lay out, position, align, and fit components together reading blueprints.

Bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts to secure position for wielding.

Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, and gas welding equipment.

Assemble parts by bolting and riveting.

Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts with cutting torch, brake shear, and straightening press.

Use power hand tools and basic hand tools to complete jobs.

Use precision hand tools such as micrometer, calibers, and dial indicator.

Operate machinery such as lathes, band saws, and milling machines. EDUCATION
