Prepare microscopic slides on tissue for diagnostic and research purposes through the following process: fixation, dehydration, infiltration, embedding, Microtomy, staining and mounting including both paraffin processed tissue and frozen sectioning.
Perform histochemical such as PAS, GMS, JMS, Giemsa, VVG, and immunohistochemical stains on a variety of tissues to assist in diagnosis.
Extraction of nucleic acids (DNA) from both formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue and other samples.
Maintains laboratory equipment, and accurate records of quality assurance control.
Planning of workflow among the laboratory staff.
Renders assistance to histology laboratory technicians when necessary.
