DUTIES AS A DRILLING ENGINEER
Plan and execute drilling operations
Organise and supervise drilling activities and ensure rig specific procedures are understood and observed by drilling teams.
Assist in ensuring that sufficient stock of part and materials are maintained.
Ensure and enforce safety and disaster recovery procedures
Costing and scheduling of drilling operations.
Taking records of all the drilling activities.
MAJOR DUTIES AS IN DIAMOND CORE DRILLING
• Competent in using Atlas Copco Christensen 14 (CS 14) and Sandvik DE710 & DE740.
• Setting the rig on the drill point and using the compass to set drill angles.
• Setting and taking of orientations of cores drilled.
• Supervising in the preparation of drill pad.
DUTIES AS IN BLAST HOLE DRILLING AND BLASTING
• Competent in using Epiroc Smartroc C50, T45, Felixroc D65, L7, L8, Sandvik DX 800 and DP 1500i rigs.
• Drilling of Pre-split holes, Production holes, Buffer holes and Trim holes.
• Expert in Down the hole hammer, Top Hammer and Coprod system of drilling.
• Connecting of Explosives, charging and stemming of holes for blasting.
• Basic knowledge in rig mechanics.
