• In this project, Image Processing was done using MATLAB. Mainly concentrated on developing an image processing analysis for the detection of the Lung cancer.
• In the Pre-Processing the input images are taken from NIH/NCI, Lung Image Database Consortium (LIDC) dataset that provides the chance to do the research.
• Image pre-processing was used to remove noise in order to obtain noise free image for further processing.
• Later, segmentation was done using K-means clustering where this technique automatically divides the image into number of clusters it requires.
• Features are extracted from the segmented images. Some of the features are selected and given to neural network training and thus accuracy was obtained.
• As artificial neural networks are used and got more accuracy than the results given by some of the other methods.
