Mark Joseph Colon
It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my applicaction to this career website. I noticed my experience can be traced back to the bullets described in the job description. Furthermore, I have eight (8) years of specialized military law enforcement experience equivalent to the GL-5 level and sixteen (16) years of combined military experience. I currently hold an active NATO Cosmic Top Secret (TS) security clearance. This is equivalent to the Department of Defense (DOD) Top Secret clearance.
As a Sergeant, I have extensive experience in leading efforts in opening and closing case files, conducting criminal investigations, authoring non-technical reports and briefing senior military officers, drafting responses to requests for information, and writing briefs, informative or routine reports by gathering information, analyzing it and summarizing the results of findings to draw valid conclusions and to make sound recommendations. I know that my specialized military law enforcement experience coupled with my leadership skills makes me well suited to quickly deliver value and results to the United States intelligence community.
The depth of my experience does not only come from the basic duties and responsibilities inherent with being a military law enforcement officer, but also from my current role as a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team lead where I am responsible for the development and mentoring of the officer team members, planning, and leading efforts in carrying out the mission. Additionally, I am often selected for the protection of government officials and visiting dignitaries, and security related duties entailing physical protection of persons and facilities. I am not only accustomed to wearing many hats and bearing many responsibilities, but I sincerely enjoy it! I thrive in an environment where no two work days are the same and I am presented with different challenges.
Specifically, I can deliver the following:
•Physical protection of Government officials and visiting foreign dignitaries (domestically and abroad) •Plan and lead security arrangements for sites, motorcades, intelligence, and counter-surveillance •Conduct vulnerability assessments of site security and motorcade routes
•Perform Stability Policing (SP) operations in unstable areas where NATO is engaged
•Foster relationships with foreign law enforcement agencies
•Train junior officers and mentor them to achieve solo patrol status
•Manage and unite diverse teams composed of individuals from all levels of an organization, through exceptional communication skills in communicating with a full team and getting people on the same page
I am very grateful for the opportunity to meet with you to discuss the value that I can bring and become part of the team that is at the forefront of security in support of the national interest. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to meeting you soon.
Best regards,
MARK COLÓN
