Provided patient care as needed in the Emergency Department of the University Pediatric Hospital in addition to direct supervision and teaching of pediatric residents and rotating residents of the University of Tennessee. Maintained responsibility for ER administration, including supervision of 20 medical personnel consisting of residents, nurses, medical assistants, and support staff. Initiated partnerships and served as primary contact with hospital administration, social services, EMS systems, and local organizations and institutions. Developed policies and procedures and ER triage manual / protocols for patient outreach and follow-up.
As the sole pediatrician in the Center for Children in Crisis, evaluated all cases reported to the Center from Memphis and surrounding referral region. This included evaluation of referred children and their families for abuse and/or neglect and initiation of referrals for proper treatment and follow-up. In addition, participated in regular meetings of a multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, etc. and had input in the final recommendations to social and legal authorities.
