HCL Image Provision Developer/Manager in MS Surface Team, Redmond, WA

Promoted to Managerial role: Oversaw HCL members and Image Provisioning project at MS to ensure successful high-quality Services and Deliverables. Captured data to create Quarterly Reports (QBR) showcasing HCL added values for MS upper management.

Image creations for various Surface hardware: Integrated and ingested latest Windows, Office and third-party drivers to build Customer Images for various in-market and new Surface hardware. Provided continual improvements, consistent changes, and required settings for the Image creations and Pipelines ensuring overall integrity, fewer maintenance overhead, and timely releases.

Azure DevOps (ADO) end-to-end: Created Work Items (WIs) in ADO to track work and participated in planning for each sprint. Migrate ADO WIs to Surface’s Agile Waterfall (AGWF). Onboarded to Git Source Repo, Stream-Lined release and development sources using Branches, and submitted changes abiding by the ADO Policy set. Created and Updated Pipelines for various Image creations. Updated ADO Team dashboard tiles with tables, graphs and links.

Testing: Ensured quality and reduction in creation of Windows Customer images with local, manual validations initially. Assisted with moving local, manual testing to an automated Pipeline one as Pre-Check-in validation during code submission as well as stand-alone runs. Continual improvements on the tests based on new requirements settings in latest Windows and Office.

Telemetry/Analytical Engineer: Captured compiler warnings from the Windows Build Logs. Created an automated monitoring Dashboard using Power BI to analyze and generalize the results thereby isolating potential issues and problematic bottleneck in the overall Windows Build System. Explored using Kusto to capture data in Window Build intervals identifying risks and vulnerable breakages. Assisted in creating automated mitigation Pipelines to combat the issues.

End-to-end ADO Software life Cycle (SLC): Implemented Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Development (CD) SLC for in-house Web tool from WIs Tracking to Git Source Control Branching/Management to VS/MSBuild Code Compilation to Pre-Check-in Gated Builds to Test Harness to Pre/Live Rollout and Rollback Production Deployments.

Automated WIX Patching process: Single-handedly designed and implemented a robust automation using PowerShell (PS) for the System Center VMM WIX patching process. The automation reduced the Patching creation from 3 days to 1 day. VMM build infrastructure was using MS CoreXT. Integrated the same WIX patching automation to other System Center products that were using TFS infrastructure.

Robust CD Pipeline: Re-architected, optimized and migrated existing 8 diverse configuration systems in Bing Maps teams to OnPrem TFS. The resulting CD infrastructure is uniformed and robust across all 8 teams allowing issues to be clearly identified. Was called Automation Lady by manager and received outstanding stock reward for task completed.

Released 100+ languages for Window Server/Client: Replaced manual localization process with a reliable, optimized one to handle 100+ languages resulting in a timely Windows Client/Server localization releases.

Cross Teams Collaboration: Partnered with various key players (localization PMs, vendors, cross-teams) to map delivery schedule for hand-off (HO) and hand-back (HB) resources files of 100+ languages, to root cause localizability and localization issues, and to make strategically sound decisions warranting timely Windows deliverables of 100+ languages.
