Here I learned the value of a working as a team in the real world, and

not just as I had before during Football. I also learned to collect data in

the field and operated many different data collectors and total

stations. Leica, Topcon, Trimble, Sokkia, Husky, TDS are some of the

brands of equipment that I learned while here with the company. I

learned how to chain break lines and topo shots as a rodman, which

really helped in the data collector learning process as it helped me

understand what the party chief was locating with the rod. While

operating the gun and learning survey practices and collecting data, I

began to understand the importance of communication between the

field and office personnel.

Here I was responsible for operating the gun and learned the inner

workings of survey-grade GPS very well. Cutting line was very prevalent

with this company as we did a lot of new road design work. This

required a lot of cross-country walking through some rough terrain but

put me through some, as my dad would say, “builds character”,

moments.

Worked in non- survey related fields of work. I can provide if needed.

Here I was able to hone in on my Party Chief capabilities, as well as began to learn the office and processing survey data in the office and drawing the data collected from the field work in Microstation.
