VOLUNTEER GAS MASK / RESPIRATOR FIT TESTER
Malmstrom AFB, MT Dec 2021 ~ Present
● Trained on OSHA Respiratory Protection and procedures in fit testing industrial respirators and gas masks.
● Assisted Bioenvironmental Engineering team weekly with customer service and fit tested over 350 personnel in accordance with OSHA and Air Force regulations to control identified health hazards.
● Collected and updated fit test results in Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System (DOEHRS) to track the compliance status resulting in 95% fit rate. ACADEMIC PROJECTS
UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA DESIGN DAY— Awarded 2ND prize for a graduate capstone.
● Collaborated with students from other engineering departments, including electrical, mechanical, systems and computer engineering to innovate a detachable parachute system for drones.
● Designed a sensor using an electronics package to detect if/when the drone unit entered free fall.
● Programmed a system to deploy the parachute to slow descent and prevent major damage.
● Documented systems requirements, conducted preliminary design and final acceptance reviews and presented the team’s technical analysis findings.
SOLAR OVEN THROW DOWN – Participated in an annual engineering challenge held at the University of Arizona.
● Constructed a solar oven from a cardboard box and aluminum foil, utilizing engineering, mathematics, and physics principles to successfully “bake” biscuits.
● Developed solutions to technical design problems, including applying a black paint coating and installing insulation, allowing the box to absorb more heat.
● Calculated and adjusted the shape of the reflectors to focus heat to the center of the oven.
