In October of 2012, I started my apprenticeship in Instrumentation working for Independent Electric & Controls out of Barrhead, AB. Working there for 2 years I developed skills in the construction and maintenance of oilfield equipment and the beginning my experience with process controls. After being at Independent, I worked at Intricate Group Inc. Energy Services from 2014 to 2017. Having several different positions at Intricate, I worked at the Orion SAGD Facility near Cold Lake, AB for 6 months maintaining the facility devices and process controls and worked closely with operations troubleshooting issues within the facility and pad wells. After Intricates contract for maintenance expired there, I moved over to Intricates measurement division and ran a work truck. Getting Intricate’s clientele companies wellsite's and facility's metering and shutdown devices up to code as per Directive 017. Also working in Intricate’s construction division I assisted in construction of well sites and small-scale projects.
Later on, at Intricate I began subcontracting through them and started running my own maintenance work truck and equipment. Several months later I was working at XTO Energy completing shutdown checks and maintenance in the Fox Creek Area. After a year of working there I transitioned to being a part of the maintenance team and started subcontracting though XTO energy. Always having a commitment to safety, I worked with operations and other tradesmen on maintaining XTO’s equipment. Handling callouts and crash maintenance I would find solutions a wide variety of issues. Being a part of planning/completing facility turn-arounds and completing AER upgrades on their natural gas-powered compressors. I also began my electrical apprenticeship during my time at XTO energy and completed first period distance learning while working full time.
Prior to my education and work experience I had grown up on a cattle farm near the hamlet of Flatbush. I assisted my family with the day-to-day operations involved with running the farm, including calving and feeding the animals.
I have built a reputation with those who I have led or worked with on teams as having a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety. Among my supervisors, I have built a reputation of being a dedicated, detail and safety-oriented employee who can be trusted to do excellent work that exceeds expectations. Instrumentation has afforded me many experiences working across the province, but now I would like to take on new challenges in a different work environment and see where this new direction takes me. I am a fast learner, a people person and hungry for change!
Thank you for considering my resume.
Sincerely,
Levi Melzer
