Job Responsibilities:
• Explains the MRI scanning process to patients and ensuring them to comply with all safety standards while considering their physical and emotional needs.
• Screens patients and other medical staff prior to entering the MRI exam room for potential contraindications, which may create health risk to the patient and staff or harm to the MRI equipment. (e.g., cardiac pacemaker, aneurysm clips, bullet, oxygen tanks, wheel chair, other metals)
• Prepares MRI room with necessary equipment and supplies required for examination.
• Utilizes a variety of surface coils, pulse gating, cardiac gating, respiratory gating and patient monitoring equipment.
• Positioning patients to capture clear images of the correct area of the body.
• Maneuvers the MRI equipment and positioning it to capture the correct images.
• Monitoring patients during scanning and maintaining patients' records.
• Starts IV's, administers contrast injections and monitors patients closely for contrast reactions.
• Reports problems related to the MRI equipment, work methods, or procedures to the MRI group leader or manager promptly.
• Ensuring clear images for Radiologists to provide accurate diagnoses. MRI Procedures Performed:
• All routine MRI Scans (Plain and With IV Contrast Media): Cranial, Brain incl. Stroke and Epilepsy/Seizure/Dementia Protocol, Orbits, Sella Turcica, Pituitary Gland, Internal Acoustic Canal, Cerebellopontine Angle, Paranasal Sinuses, Facial Bones, Nasopharynx, Neck, Chest, Breast, Whole Abdomen, Whole Spine, Extremities and Pectoral & Pelvic Girdle
• MR Angiogram & Venogram of Intra- and Extracranial Vessels
• MR Cholangiopancreatography
