Sabarigiri Hydro Electric Power Plant(SHEP)
SHEP is the second largest generating power station at Moozhiyar, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala, India, run by Kerala government with a capacity of 340MW.This Powerhouse have about a huge amount of employees working in different departments under respective Assistant executive engineers. This station consists of 6 generators, in which 4 of them have the capacity of 55MW and the remaining two has the capacity of 60MW.It also consists of a 220KV substation with 6 feeders transmitting power to different stations. Presently I am working as an Assistant Engineer
Nature of work
Inspecting and ensuring the smooth working of generators at Sabarigiri Hydro Electric Power Station.
Recording their efficiency by taking power meter readings at a regular time and keeps a regular check on them.
Maintaining and securing powersystems.
Load scheduling the power of different generators. Guide and organize the installation, maintenance support, documentation, testing etc to ensure the confirmations with the specifics of the machines. Monitoring the scada operations of the whole working of the Power station. Transmission and distribution of electric energy and telecommunications. Control equipment for electricity generation.
Electrical and mechanical maintenance works are done on the machines from time to time.
Conducting permit works for the feeders in Sabarigiri.
