Reporting directly to the Electro-Mechanical Head and Engineering Manager, lead the design team for:
Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project Level Two Design: Cooling Water System, Dewatering System, Base Drainage System, Powerhouse Drainage System and HVAC Systems of the electric power generating units.
Successfully completed the design and prepared documents were: technical specification, engineering design calculation reports, P&ID drawings, selection of (equipment’s & instruments), (equipment’s & instruments) data sheet, 3D modelling, engineering layout drawings, material schedule(BOQ), isometric drawings, operational description, logic diagram. All my outputs (designs, drawings and related documents) have been reviewed and finally released
(approved) by the EEP’s Engineering Representative Tractebel & ELC Electroconsult Joint Venture.
I introduced a software package called Autodesk Plant Design Suite; to model the 3D of all mechanical systems with the standard products and to check the interference of piping’s. In addition to introducing the software, I gave assistance for all teams and successfully produced/generated layout drawings, isometric drawings and material schedule(BOQ) of all GERD BoP mechanical systems.
I supervised the installation team of Cooling water system, drainage systems, HVAC systems and firefighting system of imbedded pipes, anchor bolts for traveling and mobile cranes in the powerhouse and grounding copper cables at Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project site (GUBA).
Conducting inspections and pressure testing with EEP & ER engineers and attending weekly and other urgent meetings to resolve any issues concerning balance of plant(BoP) scope installation.
