Job Title: LABORATORY ANALYST

Work description: Quality control of non-routine and routine concentrate ores, metal and slag samples according to SANAS system.

Receiving of samples and registering them on LIMS system and creating of worksheets/batches before analysis.

Weighing of ore samples using electronic balances.

Daily analyses of routine ore plant samples by wet chemical analysis from Sibanye concentrator plants namely Kroondal 1 and kroondal 2 concentrate plants.

Sample preparation of ore, metal and slag samples by wet chemical method for Auto-Titrator analysis, to determine chromium oxide and iron oxide percentage.

Preparation and standardization of chemical solutions used on Auto-Titrator.

Sample preparation of ores, metal and slag sample for ICP-OES analysis by sodium peroxide fusion process and wet ashing method (Desolvation).

Operating of Auto-Titrator to determine Cr2O3 and Fe2O3 percentage in daily routine and non-routine samples, and daily maintenance check list on instrument.

Operating of ICP-OES to determine Platinum Group Metals (6Eand 4E) and Base Metals.

Calibration of ICP-OES for each method analysis and daily maintenance check list of instrument.

Preparation of ICP-OES calibration standards.

Participation in analyses of Round Robin ore samples analysis for chromium oxide and iron oxide.

Reporting final results on LIMS system to the Quality coordinator.

Knowledge of ISO17025 (SANAS) on Wet Chem section.

Maintaining housekeeping in laboratory.

March 2007 – November 2008 LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (SABMILLER-DELTA BEVERAGES)

Chemical analysis of portable water, boiler water, brewing water and effluent

Analysis of carbon dioxide, chemical oxygen demand
