WORK EXPERIENCE:
2019-2021 Guest Services for MAV Event Services, Boise, Idaho. Provided excellent and personal service to attendees at large scale events around the Boise area. Events included sporting events, concerts, BSU alumni events and other events requiring security and safety. Required friendly interaction with guests of all ages, event management and personnel, and those requiring special assistance.
2013- 2021: Volunteer Coordinator and Security personnel for large arena on campus of Boise State University, Boise, Idaho. Designed first ever volunteer program for Extra Mile Arena. Recruited, trained, and managed over 100 active volunteers of all ages for large events such as concerts, sporting events such as the USTA Davis Cup tennis tournament, Disney on Ice, graduation ceremonies, etc. Responsible for providing excellent guest services to patrons as well as the performers themselves.
2013-2020: Substitute teacher for the Boise Independent School District. Taught at all grade levels, all subjects including special education, physical education, English, French, Life Skills, History, Music, and in school office.
2013-2020: Member of Assistance League of Boise and a vital member of the ALB Thrift Shop as a regular cashier, inventory and pricing team, and Membership Education and Training Chairperson. In this role, I procured local speakers for monthly presentations to the 350 members on subjects of importance and value to them in their everyday lives. Member of the Month April 2019.
2014-2016: Crew Member at Trader Joe’s, Boise. Part of Grand Opening team that opened the first and only store in Idaho. Performed all duties of successful retail operation including cashier, product demonstrations, customer service, stocking and re-stocking, signage control, cleanliness of store, etc. Also part of the TJ’s community service team who regularly took part in community wide service projects outside of the store.
1997-2013: Sales and Marketing Director/VP of Marketing for many different large, upscale retirement communities across the country, ranging from independent living communities to Continuing Care Retirement Communities to Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facilities. Developed marketing plans and budgets, provided training and management to sales staffs; set appointments and gave personal tours; planned events and conducted extensive external marketing and networking campaigns to generate leads and move ins. Promoted to VP of Marketing for Woodmark Retirement Corporation, responsible for the opening of several western communities and as National Director of Marketing for Marriott Senior Living Services, opened several new IL/AL communities nationwide.
1994-1997: Publisher and Advertising Sales Manager for Broker Agent Magazine, Tucson and Orlando. Regional publisher of a monthly real estate magazine, responsible for all editorial and advertising content. Sold all ads and single handedly published a magazine every month, featuring local real estate agents and content related to the real estate industry. Managed photographers and writers.
1993-1994: Merchandiser for Nabisco. Called on over 100 retail establishments in the greater Tucson area, from convenience stores to large stores like Target, Safeway, Albertson’s, Walgreen/s, etc. Managed displays, inventory control, and helped management place product orders.
1970-1993: Various retail, administrative and management positions including retail cashier at a large department store; assistant product manager for Mead Products corporate office in school supply division; new home sales; assistant in Career Planning and Placement Office; account executive for advertising agency; printing sales for small printing company; Marketing Director for thermometer company, and Advertising Manager for Dow Jones News Retrieval Service. All of these jobs required excellent people skills; being organized and detail oriented; working within approved budgets and the ability to meet deadlines and complete work assignments in a timely manner. Some required extensive travel. Many required computer skills. All required being on time, productive and flexible.
