DLA Consolidation

July 3, 2015

Greetings,

I have had the opportunity to work with Mr. David Green on the Command Suite and Admin

Office Consolidation project for the Distribution operation of the Defense Logistics Agency at Naval Station Norfolk VA. The multi-phased renovation project had been through several revisions and concept modifications since its inception several years before the contract was awarded. As the site superintendent, Mr. Green was one of the first company representatives I met when the actual construction/renovation began in December, 2014. My concerns about the implementation and job progress along with the project's impact on the numerous other tenants within building W-143 were immediately put to rest as David considered my preliminary ideas and advised me of what he believed would and would not work. Regardless of the complexity or the feasibility of my request, David always provided a valid, supportable response with his recommendations on the best method to proceed.

As a result of David Green's efforts, this very high profile project has progressed well in spite of the challenges associated with several hundred personnel traveling through a portion of the work area on a daily basis. With the primary goal of personnel safety, David ensured that a clearly designated, safe exit path was always available for the tenants on the floors above and the area behind the job site. "Accommodating within reason" best describes David's approach when developing strategies to minimize the impact to approximately 1,000 personnel regularly working within this complex six story, almost 2M square foot facility.

Mr. Green set the bar high regarding safety; his work site was selected for several Safety inspections by the Contracting team. While ensuring the safety of the construction workers, David also established protected paths outside of the construction zone for non-construction personnel to safely travel around the area where it was required. I was notified that the contracting firm will be issued a safety award recognizing the safety standard on this project.

Over the course of this project, I have received many positive comments from my

Commanding Officer and Deputy Commander as well as the work force in general regarding its remarkable progress. I realize that it takes a team to make a project move forward; however, as the on-site spearhead of the project, David was recognized as the motivating force of quality and progress on this project.
