I am a multi-platinum, award-winning mixing engineer and have been a full-time professional engineer, composer and producer in Hollywood for over 35 years. I taught recording engineering, mixing and mastering at UCLA for 10 years, Musician's Institute and Pinnacle College.

I'm also a schooled pianist with a Bachelor's in Music Education from "The King's College" and I worked for Fox Sports producing theme music for NASCAR.

Experience

I have worked as a full-time recording, mixing and mastering engineer, producer and pianist for over 35 years in the Hollywood area. I taught recording and mixing at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for 10 consecutive years. I taught mixing, Cubase and Reason at the Musician’s Institute.

Along with teaching, I also produced a best-selling video series titled “The Basics of Home Recording”, which was distributed to over 4,000 stores in the United States. Volume 4: "The Complete Guide to Mixing" has become an industry standard.

Recently, I was the senior producer, board operator and on-air talent for a top talk show on the entertainment industry called "Samm Brown's For the Record". It included my segment "Dave Banta's Home Recording Tips and Advice" on 90.7FM Hollywood/L.A., 93.7FM San Diego, 98.7 FM Santa Barbara, and 99.5FM China Lake/Ridgecrest.

Records and Soundtracks

"NASCAR Highlights Theme" and "NASCAR Highlights Theme 2" on Fox Sports — Composed, produced, recorded, mixed and mastered the themes for NASCAR on Fox at my studio.

Take That (Robbie Williams) — Recorded, mixed, and edited the single "Sure", which was released on the #1 selling album “Nobody Else”. “Sure” also appeared on Take That’s greatest hits album, both albums ranked #1 on Billboard's Top 100 Selling Albums in Europe. Both earned several multi-platinums. “Nobody Else” was also released in the U.S. (just shy of Gold). The single/albums Dave mixed earned 14 Billboard #1 awards in Europe and various countries within Europe.

Bone thugs-n-harmony — Mixed and mastered 45 songs at my studio that have been released by Bone thugs (Including full group, solo, and duo projects). Many, I produced and/or recorded. (Bone thugs is the #1 selling rap group in history).

"Blaze of Glory" by Flesh-n-bone of Bone thugs-n-harmony — Mixed and mastered the entire 2008 album at my studio. This was his first album after his release from prison. I produced and/or recorded many of the songs.

Johnny P and AK of Do or Die — Mixed three singles with Johnny P and AK of Do or Die and "Never More" from "Crucial Conflict" (2012).

"Unsung" on the TVOne network — Mixed the main music at my studio for the episode on Billy Preston (2011).

9ice — Mixed the four singles on the "Tradition" album for one of South Africa's biggest artists (2008). The album sold over 750,000 copies in the first week of release and sold over 2.5 million copies to date.

Slim Kid Tre (Pharcyde) — Produced, mixed, tracked and mastered the album “SlimKid3’s Café”, which released April 4, 2006.

Tupac Shakur (2Pac) — Various vocal tracking and midi dumps (1993-1996).

Tracie Spencer — #6 single “It’s All About You (Street Remix)” by The Roots and Dance Remix, (Capitol records). Mixed, mastered in my studio.

Coolio “Fantastic Voyage” — (#1 single) (TV Mixes/Tracking).

Luther Vandross — Ava Cherry’s album featuring Luther (Mixing/Tracking).

Tina Turner — Remixed songs for "The Greatest Hits of Ike and Tina Turner" Albums (Mixing).

Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg — Single "All Night Long” (Mixing/Tracking).

Rodney-O and Joe Cooley “The Final Chapter” — Mixed and tracked the entire album.

“Jack and Jill” — Produced, mixed, mastered, tracked music for this prime-time Warner Bros. show.

“Undressed” — Produced, mixed and tracked music for several episodes of this prime-time show on MTV.

Lina Santiago — Mixed the singles on her album on MCA, including “Everywhere I Go” with Emilio Estefan.

Alvaro Torres — (Mixing, concert sound), EMI.

Carlos Ponce — (Mixing) Recorded multi-track overdubs for live concerts and was head sound man (EMI).

Barrio Boys — (Mixing, head live sound man for concerts) EMI.

Proficient on SSL, Neve, Trident, API, and Harrison mixers (Built an SSL G+ in 2005).

About Dave “Rainman” Banta

David's mixes have been featured on many platinum-selling Billboard #1 charting albums.

David is both a highly-trained and experienced musician and recording engineer with degrees in music and electronics. He has performed, recorded, mixed and mastered many different styles. He's a pianist. orchestrator, an arranger who studied music in NYC full-time for a decade with some of the greatest musicians the world has ever seen. He spent many years as a full-time session/touring musician.

His engineering credits include (first engineer) Tupac, Michael Jackson, Thug Life, Bone thugs-n-harmony, Luther Vandross, Tina Turner, Do or Die, Crucial Conflict, The Roots, Tracie Spencer, Take That (Robbie Williams’ group), Sting, Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg, Eazy E, Ice-T, M.C. David has mixed and mastered 54 songs at his studio that have been released by Bone thugs-n-harmony, many of which he produced and/or recorded.

Dave has a B.S. in Music Education from "The King's College" New York, N.Y. where he attended on a music performance scholarship. He taught recording engineering at UCLA for 10 years, "Musician's Institute" and "Pinnacle College." He also taught music for kindergarten through 12th grade in public schools for several years.

His production/composition credits include music for NASCAR on Fox Sports and he composed, produced and recorded the "NASCAR Highlights Theme" on Fox. David produced and composed music for many other huge network shows including "Jack and Jill" on Warner Brothers and "Unsung" on TvOne.

He was also the Senior Producer and on-air talent on a hit show on KPFK 90.7FM LA/Hollywood, 93.7FM San Diego, 98.7FM Santa Barbara and 99.5FM Ridgecrest-China Lake. (The most powerful FM station (transmitting signal wattage) west of the Mississippi).
