Central Project Engineer (Oct 2020 – present)

During my year working as a central project engineer I worked on projects including a proposed factory extension, retrofitting 3 existing bread lines to make new products with a CAPEX of £6m and installing new semi-automated packaging equipment on a naan bread line. Responsibilities on these projects included liaising with suppliers to create detailed machine designs, organising removal and installation of new equipment, drawing up contracts for suppliers, editing CAD drawings, commissioning, de-snagging and contractor control.

Spent 6 months working as a maintenance planner in Allied Bakeries in Liverpool – creating work schedules for the 10 shift engineers on site including planning weekly shutdowns and an annual shutdown for one of the pancake lines. This required working closely with hygiene and manufacturing to ensure smooth running of shutdowns. I was also responsible for collating and running weekly downtime meetings. In addition to this I undertook projects whilst on site to update and improve PMs across multiple assets and carried out improvements to the interface of our asset maintenance portal to make it easier for operators and engineers to use.

Shift Engineer (September 2019 – March 2020)

Spent 7 months working as part of the engineering maintenance team on shift at Allied Bakeries in Stevenage. Involved in reactive and preventive maintenance as part of a shift team and worked on 2 annual shutdowns.

Mars, Incorporated

Product and Process Implementation (PPI) Industrial Placement Student

My primary function during this placement was to implement new packaging formats, recipes and technologies. I managed a variety of projects in which it was my job to ensure all the risk assessments and trials were in place to ensure successful implementation of these new ideas into the factory. This required working cross functionally with teams such as logistics, commercial and engineering – as well as working closely with my immediate team to run trials and analyse the results. I also lead a cross functional project with the 5 other placement students aimed at improving the outreach of Mars’ university recruitment. As part of this group we produced Mars’ first ever Facebook live video for a Q&A on graduate schemes and internships.

British School of Brussels Tennis Academy

Started as a volunteer for 90 minutes per week, which progressed into paid part-time assistant coaching work after 12 months. My job was to teach groups of 5-10 year olds from a variety of different multi-cultural backgrounds, as well as devising training exercises and lesson plans.
