NYSDOT, Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement (D90047), Region 11, Bronx, NY.

This $518 Million project will replace four bridges over Bronx River Avenue and Amtrack/CSX rail lines, improve the intersection of Brucker Boulevard and Hunts Point Avenue, and create more pedestrian and cycling spaces. Performed quality assurance (QA) for the installation of storm drains, watermains, hydrants and light pole/signal foundations. Inspected the installation of new H-piles foundation for new pier columns. Inspected the installation of new pile caps, columns, and piers caps. Performed inspection on the installation of retaining walls, barriers and shared use path. Inspected the demolition and removal of the existing bridge abutments, replacement of concrete decks and the repair of other deteriorated elements. Inspected the contractor’s operations, ensuring work is done according to the contract plans and specifications. Inspections included confirming approved materials are used, MPT compliance, and proper safety is followed on job site.

NYSDOT, NYS Route 100C over Route 9A Bridge Replacement, Towns of Greenburgh and Mount Pleasant (D263671), Region 8, Westchester County NY.

The project includes the construction of a new roundabout and intersection improvements between Old Saw Mill Road and Rt. 100C. The project involved demolition of the existing concrete bridge over 9A along with the construction of the new structure. Inspected the installation of new 12” and 30” water main facilities and new 12” and 16” underground gas facilities for Con Edison as well as the construction of new storm water drainage system, paving, striping, landscaping, concrete flatwork and guide rail.

MTA-TBTA, Construction Administration and Inspection Services for Project RK-23C, Design-Build Services for New Harlem River Drive (HRD) Connector Ramp (PSC-19-3028), New York, NY.

This $48 Million RK-23C project included the construction of a new connector ramp (Ramp K) from the Manhattan Approach of the RFK Bridge, just west of the Harlem River Lift Span (HRLS), to Northbound Harlem River Drive (HRD.) Performed quality assurance (QA) for the installation of timber piles for the new drainage system including the installation of new 12” ductile pipe, cradle, and encasement. Inspected the installation of micro piles foundation for new pier column. Inspected the installation of new pile caps, columns, and piers caps. Performed inspection on the installation of Ramp superstructure.

NYSTA, Replacement of the Old Tappan Zee Bridge over New York’s Hudson River, Nyack / Tarrytown, NY.

This project involves a 3.1-mile twin span cable-stayed with angled main span towers the largest bridge construction in NY history with a construction cost of $3.1 Billion. Inspected quality control (QC) of all elements of roadway work such as Portland cement concrete pavement, precast concrete pavement slabs, profilograph, diamond grinding, grooving, paving, grading, and appurtenances such barriers guiderails, rumble strips, curbs and gutter, fencing, etc.; earthquake drains, Bridge Abutments, Retaining walls and noise walls, Shared use path; Drainage systems, including storm water treatment systems; Signing and pavement markings; Intelligent transportation systems; Work involved demolition and removal of the existing bridge abutments; Demolition and removal of other existing facilities that are not part of the permanent work, and construction over and adjacent to railroad facilities and related coordination. Inspected the contractor’s operations, ensuring work is done according to the contract plans and specifications. Inspections included confirming approved materials are used, MPT compliance, and proper safety is followed on job site. Completed Inspector’s Daily Report for record keeping and for calculating payments to the contractor for each day. Coordinated with the contractor to optimize the inspection team to meet the demands of the project schedule. Mediate between contractor personnel and inspection staff in the field in order to avoid unnecessary delays of the project. Monitored the contractor’s labor force, materials and equipment during extra work time and material operations. This information would later be used to review the contractor’s extra work force account cost proposals.

The Trust for Governors Island, Rehabilitation of the Governors Island Seawall, New York, NY.

Performed quality assurance (QA) acceptance for the rehabilitation of the Governors Island Seawall including the demolition of over 3,500 LF of granite block seawall and replacement with a precast retaining wall and stone revetment. Inspected over 8,500 LF of repointing and selective rebuilding of a Historic granite block seawall. Performed inspection on post construction restoration including the installation of 24-inch storm water outfalls. Performed inspection on paving of 9,000 of perimeter roadways inclusive of curbs and sidewalks as well as the installation of 12,000 LF of fencing.

The Trust for Governors Island, Potable Water Source and Distribution Project, New York, NY.

Performed inspection for this $16.5 million project, which will provide a permanent source of potable water to Governors Island. A new waterline is being constructed from Brooklyn to Governors Island by horizontal directional drilling under the Buttermilk Channel. A 12-inch waterline will be grouted into a 24-inch steel casing pipe. Once potable water is available to the island, a new 8-inch diameter distribution system will be constructed to distribute potable water throughout Governors Island’s historic, park, and new development districts. The Project also consists of the construction of new 12 inch and 20-inch water mains in Brooklyn. In addition, fire hydrants were installed on the Island and in Brooklyn.

Served as the Client’s key point of contact and provided supervision of the inspection staff and reviewed extra work proposals, and material proposals. All work was performed in accordance with NYCDEP specifications and under their supervision.

Construction Inspector

November 2014 - December 2009

Columbia University, Manhattanville Development, New York, NY.

This $27 Million dollar project involved the removal of existing sewer and utilities and reconstruction of new combined sewer, appurtenances and utilities for Phase I of Columbia University's Manhattanville development. Inspected the installation of new water mains; 12" through 48" water mains and combined sewers, from 48" diameter through 8’-6”'x7-0” rectangular. Performed inspection on the relocation of 20" HP and 12” LP gas mains. Installation of cast in place concrete chambers, precast manholes and catch basins. Inspected roadway, sidewalk and curb reconstruction, MPT compliance and community outreach.

Monitored pile driving operations for timber piles installed in some sections of the combined sewer. Monitored the relocation and replacement of Con Edison ducts, manholes and vaults due to interference with the proposed sewer lines. Monitored the installation of various configurations of duct banks, including the required mandrel, rodding and roping operations. Inspected the installation of numerous field constructed and precast electrical manholes, ensuring conformity with applicable Con Edison specifications. Maintained daily records of all work performed including payment quantities, work crews and general description of work activities.

NYCDDC, Reconstruction of Stuyvesant Avenue from Fulton Street to Broadway, Brooklyn, NY.

Construction inspection Performed on the 1.2-mile road reconstruction project in the Borough of Brooklyn. This project involved the replacement of the concrete road base and asphalt, installation of new concrete sidewalks, placement of new granite, concrete and steel faced curb, water main replacement and combined sewer along with new streetlights and traffic signals.

MTA-NYCT, Rehabilitation of Nine (9) Stations & Line Structure on the Sea Beach Line, Brooklyn, NY.

This $30 Million project involved the rehabilitation of the full-time control house, station platforms, and NYCT’s automatic fare control building. Coordinated and managed the drawing efforts for the rehabilitation of the 8th Avenue station. Responsible for ensuring that the drawings were done in accordance with NYCT CADD standards, providing design for rehabilitation for retaining walls from 8th Ave. station to 86th Street station.

Worked closely on a topography survey (from the Whitestone Bridge to the Westchester Co. Line) which included Aerial Photographic ground control, ROW, establishing a working baseline, and base mapping.

Worked on seven (7) miles of topographic survey (from Triborough Bridge to the Westchester Co. Line) preparing Abstract Request Maps for 160 taking along the MDE and all necessary mapping for the ROW requirements.

NYSDOT, Korean War Veteran Memorial Parkway (KWVMP) Terminus Project, Region 11, Staten Island, NY.

Worked on a $42 Million traffic congestion reduction at the interchange and intersections formed by the ramps connecting the KWVMP to the Arthur Kill Road and Richmond Avenue. Prepared descriptions for fees, permanent, temporary construction easement maps and plotting existing utilities on the plans.

NYSDOT, Mineola Blvd. Temporary Detour Bridge, Region 10, North Hempstead, NY.

This was a $5 Million bridge replacement project. Produced all the 33 civil drawings of the bridge and approach roadways. Assisted in the development of the horizontal alignment of the curved bridge, providing various layouts.

BETTIGOLE ANDREWS & CLARK & KILLAM ASOCIATES – New York, NY.

CADD Technician

January 1997 – March 1993

NYSDOT, Belt Parkway Drainage Improvements Region 11, Brooklyn and Queens, NY.

This was a $7Million drainage and pavement reconstruction project along the 36-mile Belt Parkway corridor. Served as the main CADD Technician for the contract, producing the majority of the 130 contract drawings.
