PROJECTS:

A STUDY ON EFFECT ON CAREER BREAK ON THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT OF WOMEN EMPLOYEES WITH REFERENCE TO COIMBATORE CITY

OBJECTIVES :

1. To understand the factors which contribute in taking career breaks by women.

2. To find out the wage differentials, if any, before and after the break.

3. To study the changes in position, roles and responsibilities, if any, before and after the break.

4. To study other consequences of a career break on career of a working women.

5.To analyze the difficulties faced on re-entry.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The limitations from the findings of the present study suggest some themes for future research:

1. It would be interesting to conduct a study on the same topic in randomly selected cities to give a broader understanding, which may possibly possess certain cultural and demographic variations.

2. Further research need to investigate the gender wise differences on effect of career breaks.

3. Comparative study of various cities or regions can be done to understand the differences of career development of men and women of academic institutions.

4. A qualitative study with both employees and employers would help in understanding the effect of career breaks on the employees and suggestions from the employers for improvement in the career break policies.

5. The insight given by the employers could be useful in understanding their experiences from a different angle.
