Manual Processing unit was installed with a floor-mounted Xray Machine, I catered out-patients and in-patients from Salcedo District Hospital and Sta. Currently, I am under CT scan, MRI and Mammogram Section of the Radiology Department, an Ancillary Unit of the hospital that caters to both out-patients and in-patients seeking diagnostic and medical attentions. I manage a Manual GE Mammography Machine producing high quality images with a Carestream developer in routine procedures, Breast spot-filming and assistance during Breast Localization with the Radiologist. CT scan and MRI section is now included to the Trauma Center of the Hospital developed just this year in charge of providing diagnostic assessment to the patient in a timely manner usual case for Stroke and CVD tagged that are in need of fast-paced evaluation. GE Revolution EVO 64-slices machine and GE 16-slices machine could handle variety of procedures. Angiography procedures are commonly done, some of the cases are: Brain (Circle of Willis) CT Angiogram, Carotid CT Angiogram, Coronary CT Angiogram, Chest CT Angiogram (r/o Embolism and Aneurysm), Abdominal Aorta CT Angiogram, and Peripheral CT Angiogram using NEMOTO Power Injector with the speed of 3.0/3.5 cc/sec of contrast medium. Special Procedures are also handled like Triple phase CT of the Liver, Triple Phase CT of the Whole Abdomen, Triple Phase CT Scan Pancreatic Protocol, CT Scan Adrenal Protocol, Urogram and CT Scan with 3D reconstruction; assisting during biopsy, machine manipulation, handling, and preparation of materials to be used are also my responsibility most cases are: Chest FNAB, Spine Biopsy/aspiration and Pancreatic Biopsy. CT scan procedures with sedations are in practice, I am to devise all the necessary equipment to be used by the Anesthesiologist during procedure and instructions for patient forms and necessary preparations. Routine and Conventional CT Scan Procedures of the body are all done adjusting protocols depending on the physician in charge for the day. I am currently in training for MRI procedures Siemens Magneto Essenza 1.5 Tesla.

Job Description

Provides information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs and reporting important information to physicians;

Establishes a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family, assessing the patient, planning appropriate care for, and evaluating the progress of the patient in a position to understand service requirements;

Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into a specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors;

Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures, developing radiographs, observing radiographic results, and making necessary adjustments;

Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors;

Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media; and administering first aid and using the emergency cart;

Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies;

Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques;

Completing the patients' intake process, taking patients' histories, preparing, educating, providing explanation and answering patient inquiries about the imaging procedure to gain patients’ cooperation by reducing anxieties;

Collects comprehensive data in a systematic and ongoing process while honoring the uniqueness of the person, identifies barriers and gets to know the patient and the companion and reviewing patients’ chart and Doctors’ notes as a whole before the examination, and maintaining patients’ records during and after procedures;

Logging and organizing image results, developing film, assisting with the interpretation of the radiograph results, and consulting with Radiologists to determine if other images need to be taken;

Performs hand hygiene strictly at all times to achieve the hospital’s hand hygiene goal of 100% compliance;

Follows the standards of professional performance;

Performing administrative tasks, such as answering technical questions, scheduling appointments, and offering pre-procedure advice;

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
