How to Fix Common EFM Resume and EFM-to-Word Problems
EFM Resume has a large white space gap
1.Click the section heading where the gap is located – above, you would click Ability Summary.
2.When you click on the text box, as if you were going to add text to what is already there, you will notice that the cursor is blinking far below where the text ends – this is what’s causing the white space gap.
3.Hold down the Shift key and carefully tap Backspace until the cursor is in front of the last word in the text as shown below, then click Save.
4.The gap is now gone!
Easiest Way to Adjust an EFM Resume Downloaded into Word
If you are having difficulties formatting a resume in Word after you download it from EFM – maybe the Backspace doesn’t seem to be working, or you can’t delete certain spacing problems:
1.Click Ctrl-A (select all), then Ctrl-X (cut) – the document will appear blank:
2.In the Word menu at the top, make sure you are in the Home tab at the top left. On the left there is a clipboard icon with the word Paste and an arrow – click the word Paste or the arrow; DO NOT click the clipboard. You get a choice of either Paste or Paste Special – click Paste Special:
3.You now get a pop-up window with a list of choices – select the third choice, Unformatted Text, then click OK:
4.The resume now will be nothing but text, much easier to change as needed!
If the bullet-point formatting looks strange, you can easily fix it by selecting one bullet-pointed section at a time:
Then, make sure you are in the Home tab at the top left, click the Bullet Points icon, and it will indent the bullets for you.
