Managed and supervised the downtown office’s IT systems; supporting approximately 520 end users and 78 telephonic workers
In 2001, tested five different PDA products for the executives at CareFirst and recommended the Compaq’s Blackberry. Now, it is widely used across the enterprise for appointments, message retrieval, and notes composition.
In 2002, made a proposal that saved CareFirst $30,000.00 monthly. We transitioned from total control dial-in protocol to AT&T ISP to aid associates with company’s laptop to dial in remotely, to avoid being charged long-distance. I spear-headed the project from start to its completion seven months later on nearly 3,000 laptops.
In the Spring of 2003, tested and compared several laptops in order to select which would be better for our users and the different infrastructures at CareFirst. Brand tested as follows: Toshiba, IBM ThinkPad, and HP laptops. Weight, dimension, features and design were factors to picking a winner
In the fall of 2003, compared the Microsoft Office to Star Office by Sun Microsystems.
Responsibilities included but not limited to computer hardware and software configuration for standard associates and power users (VIP & the executives, alike). Since I managed and responsible for three sites with heavy demands, researching and working late and long hours are the norms for me.
Setup and configure new laptop for standard and power users
Performed software and hardware migration effort since joining CareFirst. Particularly Windows NT 4.0, Windows Millennium, the Y2K, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10 and Office 360
Deployment of new computers and repairs of old computers for IT storage
Utilized Systems Management Server (SMS) as a remote control tool to resolve most trouble calls triaged by the helpdesk.
Proposed a training material and traveled to our remote sites to provide a detailed overview to the users on AT&T with VPN usage.
As desktop engineer, responsible for software purchases, test and install, configuration and documentation.
Acted as liaison between CareFirst and vendors for up to date service maintenance agreement.
Coordinated laptop loan program for associates (Management) traveling within the country and overseas.
Possessed FiOS internet modem for weekend, holidays, and after hour support. Provide year round rotational on-call support services.
