Responsibilities include: drawing blood on in-patients and out patients, PKU’s (new born screenings), STAT lab sorting incoming blood and body fluids and distributing to the appropriate departments, spin down area-receiving specimens from the drawing room and other Kaiser clinics, processing specimens by centrifuging, pouring off and storing sputum, throat, stool, anaerobic, miscellaneous, including gram stains, storing specimens in the incubator or distributing them to the proper departments, customer service-data entering of test orders from requisition slips, calling physicians to establish clarification of requests, and collecting co-payments from patients when necessary.
