MEMBERSHIPS
I was a member of the Rotary Club and the Spanish Club in High School my Junior year and became President of the Spanish Club my Senior year. I contribute short stories and poetry online which can be viewed and critiqued by my peers. I also spent the summer of 2013 volunteering at my local library. Currently, I am a member of the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society.
SOFTWARE/SYSTEM SKILLS
I am proficient in all Microsoft Office programs. My typing speed averages at 70 words per minute, and I’m also proficient in bookkeeping and invoicing. I have worked with the public for 10 years, so I have a great amount of experience serving both pleasant and difficult customers while providing excellent customer service. At my current job, I have been required to answer inbound calls while simultaneously answering chats and emails. I typically answer 100+ calls daily with little to no down time in between. I am comfortable working in a fast paced environment, I am task oriented, and have a passion for solving problems and helping people.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I was a Peer Mentor at the University of Kentucky in the Fall semester of 2019. In this position, I was responsible for helping the instructor teach the course, and I was responsible for in-class activities to encourage interaction amongst the students. I developed a “draw your ideal study space vs. actual study space” to encourage my students to implement microchanges in their lives to help with studying, and I also assisted them with classroom technology. I would stand in for the instructor when he had other obligations, and so I would be teaching solo for a full 1 hour class period. While my responsibilities were limited since this wasn’t a paid position, I gained important experience that comes with being on the other side in a classroom.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Because I am distinguished in English grammar and language, I can proofread paperwork as well as web content quickly. I completed two years of Spanish in high school, giving me basic Spanish skills. During my time at UK, I also completed three semesters of Japanese language.
FUN FACTS
My husband and I were pronounced married at 10:11 AM on 12/13/14, and have been happily married ever since. I love to read comics, play video games, and walk my dog in my spare time. My favorite flavor of ice cream is strawberry, my husband’s favorite is vanilla, and my sister’s favorite is chocolate, so a carton of neapolitan never goes to waste in my house. I can also spell hors d’oeuvres correctly every time.
