Dear QuadReal Property Group,

With the utmost enthusiasm, I would like to express my interest in the Student Planning Internship. I’m sure you receive a number of applications for the position, so I’ll keep this brief. As a Special Events Planning major, I believe I’d be an appropriate fit for the internship. I was drawn to the position due to the abundance of potential experience from the variety of day-to-day operations. With my educational background and knowledge of volunteer management, I believe I would excel in this position and be an asset to your team.

As a prospective intern, I can bring the following characteristics to the table:

Fast-paced perfectionist: At Indigo Books & Music, I oversaw the visual merchandising for my store location. I had the freedom to create domination bays and displays, as long as they contained all the necessary merchandise required from head office. Subsequently, I was also in charge of stock management. Therefore, it was my responsibility to verify, process, and unpack all the shipments received throughout the week. After opening all shipments, I organized the merchandise according to the release date. For the ready-to-release merchandise, I created functional yet aesthetic displays that would entice customers. Through this experience, I was able to showcase my skills for creativity and attention to detail.

Effective critical thinker: In the summer of 2017, I became an oyster shucker at Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill, where I was opening upwards of 200 oysters daily. When I first joined the shucking team, I noticed a lack of organization and communication. The shucking team was not proactive in replenishing their stock during service and would panic when orders would come in. Therefore, I used my skills as a prep cook to organize the stock in recognizable categories and easy-to-reach places. I also communicated with the shucking team the need to implement an ongoing dialogue during service. As a result, the shucking team had more time for customer interaction and individually earned $700 tips from 2 weeks of pooling.
