RAIL LOGISTICS, INC. 2001 – 2021

Director of Operations /Terminal Manager (2016 – 10/1/2021) Dual Role Responsibility

Oversee approx. 120 Rail Logistics employees in 5 different ramps (cities) the Norfolk Southern RR, with direct oversight of 1 M&R Division Manager, 5 Terminal Managers and 3 M&R Managers, in addition to an HR Manager and an M&R Coordinator (Corp. office).

Direct weekly dealings with Director of Intermodal, Director of Intermodal Maintenance, and several Division Managers, Superintendents.

Assist Superintendents, Train Masters, Yard Masters, Sr. General Car Foremen, General Car Foremen with Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Supported development of our own SPCC Plan (Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure) to ensure compliance with NS and St. Louis Environmental standards.

Expanded the development of training program for Ground-mans, Spotter, Crane operators, M&R mechanics, Gate Clerks

Developed accident / injury investigations, Hazmat / Haz-com training, points systems for attendance / accidents / injuries and warning issues.

Facilitated establishment of parts inventory for M&R.

Grew facility footprint, managing yard improvements, facility or building maintenance and salt purchasing / placement as well as snow plowing and removal. Infrastructure design improvements.

Acquired 2 new adjacent properties, supporting the demolition of 2 warehouses, and the future planning of the new crossing into the facility as well as parking structure layout and improve operational efficiencies.

Took over 4 more Maintenance & Repair (M&R) facility for the Norfolk Southern Intermodal ramp in Ayer MA, Harrisburg PA, Rutherford PA, Bethlehem, PA. Hiring, training and establishing and M&R program to get repairs to chassis and containers caught up and maintained to the NSRR, and AAR matrix and standards. Just recently started up a new operation in Greencastle, PA. (Sept 2021). Recruiting talent, training, mentoring new employees for this operation which includes Gate clerks, Assembly which includes spotter and crane operators, and M&R employees.

Decreased declinations (charge backs for damaged containers / chassis) from approx. $150,000 to $67,000 per year by establishing an inspection for on-cars and better gate inspections. This was achieved by help in creating new testing and training material and auditing programs.

Increased LPH (lifts per man hour), from 1.9 to 3.05 avg. Achieved by creating team atmosphere, between shifts.

Reduced injuries and accidents from approx. 35 accidents down to 7 and injuries from 3 down to 1 per year on average. Achieved by my development of safety and training modules, installation of I-Drives and daily, monthly, and quarterly auditing programs.
